WargointaSeatLe (We are going to Seattle)

(Read the previous episode first : Departure from Paris!)

Ah London! I'd never been to Heathrow Airport before, but I assumed it was pretty big. Well, it's enormous!

After going through the security, I looked at the maps of the fifth terminal. Gucci, Dior, HMV, Harrod's : if you're living in London you really don't need to go to the Champs-Élysées to shop, you just have to go to London Heathrow.

Since I had some pounds left from a previous trip to London and five hours to waste before the next flight, I window-shopped for about an hour before deciding where I wanted to spend my cash. I finally decided that I would buy the first season of Damages because it was so great (and so inexpensive) and I thought I could watch in in the flight to Seattle since the complete season runs for 9 hours. Then I ate some sushis and played Picross on my iPad during three long hours, waiting for my flight to show up on the airport's screens.

BA00049 - Seattle --- Terminal 5C Gate 63

Oh snap! I was in Terminal 5A! I rushed to the train connecting terminals A, B, and C and then ran to Gate 63, only to find out that World Traveler Plus ticket holders were embarking last. Apparently, when you pay extra money to British Airways, you get the privilege to wait more than the others...

But at last I entered the Boeing 747-400.

I was greeted by the crew with some incomprehensible random British greetings, then I found my seat and I sat down.

You may be nice, but I can't understand sh*t!

The pilot, who was also from London, told through the speakers "WargointaSeatLe", which I roughly translated by "We are going to Seattle".

The second part of my trip

The first thing I discovered is that the outlets of the plane weren't European or American outlets, which I had no idea because I'd not taken a such long flight in the last ten years. Hence my viewing of Damages The First Season was compromised. I decided instead to try the in-flight entertainment console on the little screen in front of me (even my iPad screen is bigger) and watched the movie 2 Days in New York with Julie Delpy and Chris Rock. And Oh Lord it was good! I laughed so hard I woke up the passenger sitting next to me!

Then the nice stewardess offered me a can of Coke and some cheese-flavored pretzels, which I didn't know existed. And I should've kept it that way. It was the most distasteful thing I've ever eaten on a plane! Of course I'd drunk my can of Coke before eating the pretzels so I had to ask for a cup of coffee to forget this terrible snack.

After 9 hours, a lot of snacks of varying quality and many misunderstanding with the flight attendants, I finally reached Seattle, Washington, United States of America!
